Welterweight Sam Eggington proving just how Savage he can be

21-year-old Sam Eggington (16-2-0) made a great impression earning his second belt, as Glenn Foot of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, was forced to retire before the ninth round of their vacant British welterweight title clash in Manchester.

The Birmingham, Commonwealth champion started off cautiously, using his superior reach and range throughout the rounds. Eggington grew in confidence, picking off previously unbeaten 27-year-old Foot with his solid jab, outclassing his opponent at every turn.

Foot received a severe cut to the left eye from an accidental head clash in the seventh round, resulting in the one-sided fight being called to a halt following inspection from the ringside doctor right at the beginning of round Nine.

In the post-fight interview trainer Jon Pegg assures us there is a lot more to come from this young Birmingham fighter.
