In the letter to Barber, President Trump wrote that Quiet War was a ‘great song,’ that “will become a battle cry” for the entire country as his administration applies all measures to end a crisis that now kills more than 50,000 Americans each year. The President continued his praise calling Michael a “talented musician and songwriter.”

Quiet War talks about the hardships of the opioid epidemic, a crisis that Barber has dealt with on a personal level writing on his website:

“First I have to thank the President for his nice words, and I want to remind everyone that this isn’t a political issue. This epidemic isn’t just taking the lives of Republicans or Democrats or independents or non-voters, it doesn’t discriminate, and that is how the approach should be to stop this epidemic. We need to come together as a country and say enough is enough, whether you voted for President Trump or you didn’t vote or you wrote in Mickey Mouse, it doesn’t matter now. We need to look past any partisan issues, and figure out solutions like so many other problems in our country.”

This might be a quiet war, but it has real victims. I have personally lost close friends, former classmates, teammates, and they are gone now forever. The stigma and misunderstanding of what is going on is causing this among other hidden agendas, and we do need to launch a war type of campaign back to stop anyone else from suffering and dying. We need to stop kids from losing parents, parents from losing kids, brothers and sisters from dying. We need to end this war, and the first thing we need to do to do that is admit there is a war going on.”

President Trump went on to invite Barber to perform the song at the 2018 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in President’s Park. Last year’s ceremony had performances by the Beach Boys, country music singer, Wynonna Judd, Craig Campbell, Us The Duo, Boys II Bow Ties, Mannheim Steamroller, and the U.S. Navy Band led by Emmy nominated music director Steve Gibson.

Michael is an alumni of the famed entertainment school, Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Quiet War is the first song released from Barber’s upcoming album, AHAYWEH, which will release on June 1st on Sycamore Music Group. All of the proceeds from the streams and sales from Quiet War will be donated to charity that deals with raising awareness to fight the stigma of addiction.
