Narcolepsy confirmed as an atuoimmune disease

Narcolepsy, which is characterized by sudden extreme tiredness, muscle weakness and rapid transition from wakefulness to sleep, has long been hypothesized to be an autoimmune disease. Mellins, Mignot and colleagues now show that a subset of CD4 T cells that are specific for orexin, a wake-promoting hormone, are found only in people with narcolepsy.
