Man survives leap into tiger enclosure at Chinese zoo

A deranged Chinese man was nearly mauled by a Bengal white tiger when he leapt into its enclosure at a zoo and began leaping and shouting.

Witnesses at the zoo in Chengdu, Sichuan on Sunday morning said the 20-year-old scaled the enclosure’s fence and began provoking the tigers and smearing a red substance on a glass pane inside the pen, according to reports.

One female tiger latched onto the back of his orange warmup and dragged him across the ground, but let go before harming him further, Shanghaiist reported.

Zookeepers eventually got control of the beast and the man escaped without serious injuries.

The unnamed nutcase told the zookeepers he wanted to “feed the tigers,” the blog said. He reportedly had a bag of rice in his backpack.

“If it had been a Siberian tiger, the consequences would have been unimaginable,” a staffer told a local newspaper, noting that the animal had just eaten.
