Lucas Matthysse vs Viktor Postol for the vacant WBC super lightweight title on October 3

Lucas Matthysse

The boxer from Argentina, Lucas Matthysse(37-3, 34 KOs), has proved he is a warrior in the ring. His next opponent is Ukraine boxer, Viktor Postol(27-0, 11 KOs), in what should be considered a late candidate for fight of the year. Although it will be hard to compete with Matthysse’s last fight when he beat Ruslan Provodnikov last spring.

Fight of the year or not, Matthysse vs Postol will be a good one.

Any fight with Matthysse is going to be a fight to tune into, and the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya spoke to ESPN about this upcoming fight that will take place October 3rd.

“The way I see it, any Lucas Matthysse fight … always calls for action. We’ve seen him in wars. We don’t know much about Postol. The United States hasn’t seen him in wars, but come Oct. 3, people are going to know Postol and know he is a strong fighter.”

The fight will headline an HBO-televised doubleheader, although De La Hoya said he is still in the process of finalizing the deal with the network.

The fight is pretty much officially set for Oct. 3 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
