Brain-Eating Amoeba: Microorganism Found in Terrebonne Parish, La., Water System, Officials Say

Notice from the Terrebonne Consolidated Waterworks District No.1:
As a result of a sample testing on August 5, 2015, Naegleria fowerli, brain eating amoeba, was found at the last hydrant on Island Road in Pointe Aux Chenes. Consolidated Waterworks District #1 has begun a free chlorine burn that will last for 60 days.

WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK. The public is cautioned to keep water from entering their nasal passages or nostrils. You may begin to notice an increase in chlorine odor in the water. The public is advised to visit the Consolidated Waterworks District #1 website at www.tpcw.org for additional information.
