A Wisconsin mom was distracted by Facebook chat when she lost control of her SUV and slammed into an oncoming truck, killing her daughter and two nieces.

Police in Prescott, Wisconsin, say 34-year-old Kari Jo Milberg was distracted by a Facebook chat when she lost control of her SUV and slammed into an oncoming truck in December 2013.

Milberg’s 11-year-old daughter and her two nieces died as a result of the crash.Milberg, who was in a coma after the crash, says she doesn’t remember what happened.

Investigators found Milberg’s phone months after the crash when the snow on the side of the road melted away. The phone revealed the mother was involved in a Facebook chat moments before the deadly crash.

Milberg faces three counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and one count of reckless driving.
