4.3 Earthquake in Kent

An earthquake of 4.3 magnitude has been felt in Kent which shook buildings and woke up residents.

The tremor was recorded at a depth of 1.4 miles (2km) about three miles (5km) from the village of Ash in the east of the county shortly before 3am.

Simon Moores, who lives in Westgate close to Margate, said: “There was a sudden, violent jarring and shaking.

“Dogs started barking. It lasted for around 10 seconds.”
